EA is Still King, though. . . .
2K Sports delays NFL 2K21, gives 2022 update after recent anticipation from fans wanting the franchise to return. Last July, the NFLPA partnered with 2K Sports, announced the return of NFL 2K series. For the first time since 2004, 2K Football is releasing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
However, it was first reported that NFL 2K would only return in Arcade mode with real teams. While EA Sports still has rights to simulation games with real teams, the NFL 2K reboot is kind of tricky.
We also broke the story on NFL 2K being similar to MyCareer mode, most known in the NBA 2K community.
Well, Tuesday, Take-Two Interactive held an investor call and shared some unfortunate news for the gaming world. NFL 2K, which was scheduled to release this year, has been delayed until further notice. This is like due to the pandemic, economy, and the company not having enough staff to ready a presentable game for the public.
2K Sports said, “While we are very excited to once again be working with the NFL and NFLPA, our first title under these new partnerships is no longer expected to be released during fiscal year 2022. 2K will have more to share on their plans for our football offerings going forward.”
However, they did confirm a major story we broke, in a brief statement released to gaming sites. 2K Sports confirmed that it had plans of TWO FOOTBALL games, one being the arcade experience and a second being made by Gearbox.
Look for 2K Sports to share details on the second title sometime in 2022.
