Is ‘Rock Band’ finally returning to consoles?!?!?
During the late 2000’s when Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles were first released, we were limited to a selection of replayable releases – with the exception of Gears of War 1 at the time.
Massachusetts-based gaming company, Harmonix created music rhythm game Guitar Hero in 2005. While the original release only featured a rhythm guitar to play some of their favorite hits and past classics, the company felt it was time to take their vision to a next step two years later with Electronic Arts. In 2007, we became addicted with the Rock Band series, bringing the closest experience to re-enacting our favorite groups with vocal, guitar, bass and our favorite being the drums.
Whether or not MTV and Electronic Arts expected the music series to become successful overnight – we personally spent hundreds of dollars (sadly maybe thousands) on equipment and digital releases), we would love for the title to be re-released on next-generation consoles with transferable content, although it’s highly unlikely at the moment.
Three weeks ago, Rock Band 3 received new DLC for the first time in nearly three years.
Arctic Monkeys and Foo Fighters were among the bands included for the release, which sparked questions whether the series would be revived this year. Harmonix has remained quietly active in the gaming world focusing on the Xbox One exclusive Dance Central in recent years; but the demand for a new Rock Band release is still high among long-time fans and new consumers if properly rolled out. Following the release of The Beatles stand-alone release for Rock Band in 2009, we’ve had a few groups that we’ve always dreamed of taking to the virtual world.
It remains to be seen if Indy developer is ready to return to the spotlight currently, but you can continue to the next pages to follow on who we would love to see in Rock Band.
