Are you ready for true virtual reality?
Many of the tech-world has been preparing their bodies for the pending release of Oculus Rift. The virtual reality head-mounted display headset, which works for Microsoft Windows (also coming to Apple OS X and Linux platforms at a later date), was first revealed in Los Angeles at 2012’s E3.
Yesterday, device founder Palmer Luckey shared some news to consumers about the pending launch of O.R. The product is officially on-target for a first quarter launch in 2016, which pre-orders are expected to go live immediately after the New Year in the coming days.
He soon went to reassure buyers that they would receive a warning before pre-orders are available, to avoid extended holiday stress shopping. With Rock Band VR set to be one of the standout titles next year on the device, those who pre-order will receive a free copy of EVE Valkyrie, a first-person space dogfighting title at launch. Look for more details to surface in the coming weeks, including whether or not Oculus Touch controllers will ship for the upcoming winter launch.
