Microsoft isn’t the only gaming platform looking to tap into the web-based market of digital television, with their upcoming Xbox Entertainment Studios set to invade Xbox platforms in the coming weeks. Sony Pictures Television is also looking to expand the PlayStation 4 console and network, revealing their plans for an original content of TV series’ beginning with “Powers.”
Originally a novel by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, the hour-long series will feature detectives who investigate super natural powers. Author, Charlie Huston has already penned the pilot, which the show will be seeing 10 episodes during its first season.
With more people using consoles primarily for video streaming on Netflix, HULU, Amazon, Redbox and HBO Go among others; Sony is currently planning an over-the-top pay-TV service, which Powers will be one of the main series on the channel when it launches in the coming months.
