Narcos
We’re still shocked that an autobiographical film on the life of Pablo Escobar has never hit the big screen over the years. But after being introduced to its new Netflix series, we’re relieved the 20+ year wait was worth it. The former Colombian drug lord essentially turned a small city, Medellín, into the biggest cocaine hub of the world – which still holds the crown to this day. Luckily, some portions of Colombia enabled for the story to be told in the popular crime drama series, Narcos.
The series premiered in August on the streaming giant, and was renewed for an immediate second season after gaining some heavy praise in August from critics, the entertainment industry and fans on social media. Focusing primarily on The King of Cocaine, we get an in-depth look at Pablo’s rise during the 1980s and his operation that was racking in well over $60 million a day.
With Uncle Sam losing out on his piece of cake, the United States DEA goes under cover for a short time to find out secrets of the Cartel, before they’re made. With various assignations, bombings, and drug trafficking throughout Colombia, this story is something not to miss out on.
Look for Narcos to return summer 2016 on Netflix.
