We are witnessing the demise of Alex Rodriguez with each passing day. Not only did MLB suspend him for 162 games (in what may possibly be the end of his career as we know it), but the more the hole gets deeper for A-Rod, piles of evidence and details about the case continue to surface, accounting how many performance enhancing drugs he really took. Not only that, but how he cheated the MLB urin tests, how he took the substances, etc. Welcome to A-Rod’s tarnished baseball legacy.
60 Minutes investigated and talked to Anthony Bosch, a professional sports doper who has been in the eye of the storm surrounding the Rodriguez controversy.
Is A. Bosch the biggest snitch in the history of professional sports?
Bosch accounts details about the PED’s he administered to A-Rod (testosterone troches, insulin growth factor, peptites, human growth hormone) and shockingly revealed that he took them in the dug out right before a game, applying cream to his skin, as well as a number of other treatments to help elevate his game. He even recalls a time where he drew Rodriguez’s blood in the bathroom of a club, just to test him and see how long the drugs stayed in his system. Although A-Rod has never been tested positive for any PED drugs, there are many BBM messages where the two talk about the “protocol,” using code words for certain treatments.
Bosch confessed that if he would have never got caught, he would still be doing it, especially since he was getting paid $12,000 a month from Rodriguez, not including other payments for various instances across his career (Manny Ramirez was also a past client of his). He also made the very bold statement, accusing a majority of baseball players of doping and getting away with it just like A-Rod did.
In part of two of the 60 Minutes piece, they get Bud Selig’s side of the story and talked to people who were knee deep in the investigation. From A-Rod’s lawyer who claims this is an MLB witch hunt, to commissioner Selig who is still appalled at the this entire incident, saying that this is the worst act by a player ever, in the history of the sport. This case is just his attempt to save baseball from cheats like Alex.
They also detail how the league got to Bosch when he feared for his life (thanks to A-Rod’s goons), and how they came to the conclusion that his credibility was upheld by proof of what he did, even though Rodriguez kept denying everything in the public.
This seems like a movie, but it’s all real. We actually wouldn’t be surprised if it gets made into a film in the near future. If you haven’t been keeping up with the case, this will certainly catch you up and probably open your eyes at how deep the situation is.
This might just be the tip of the iceberg.
