Oh, it’s LIT
As long time fans of VICE (even before VICE was on HBO), it’s good to see them expand into other ventures and now have enough clout to start their own cable channel.
VICE and A&E have now partnered and will launch their own 24-hour a day channel in 2016, which will be a little like the VICE we all currently now, but kicked up another level. The have new shows on the way including Black Market with Michael K. Williams, Fuck, That’s Delicious with Action Bronson, Huang’s World, with Eddie Huang, Weediquette, and Gaycation with Ellen Page.
Off top, we’d watch 90% of the shows that are previewed on the trailer.
Spike Jonze is overseeing the creative aspect of programming on the channel and it should reach 70 million homes in the U.S. when it launches.
“It feels like most channels are just a collection of shows. We wanted VICELAND to be different, to feel like everything on there has a reason to exist and a strong point of view. Our mission with the channel is not that different from what our mission is as a company: It’s us trying to understand the world we live in by producing pieces about things we’re curious about, or confused about, or that we think are funny.”
