A Live-Action Star Wars TV Series Might Happen!

Four years ago, before Disney’s official $4 billion acquisition of Lucasfilm, a live action Star Wars TV series was in motions to official happen. However, those plans were put on indefinite hold, as the company has started a new trilogy series, as well as spinoffs for their popular franchise.

That was until this week, when Disney and ABC executive, Ben Sherwood revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that it’s still possible for the beloved film to head to the small screen. He to cite that he hopes that Walt Disney Studios chairman and Lucasfilm president plan to revisit the idea down the line, but both are focused on the current cinematic universe – which doesn’t seem to be losing steam anytime soon. Take a look at Sherwood’s comments below.

Is there a plan for a live-action Star Wars series?

The live-action Star Wars plan rests in the hands of [Walt Disney Studios chairman] Alan Horn, [Lucasfilm president] Kathy Kennedy and the great folks at Lucasfilm. Somewhere we hope in a galaxy not too far away there will be a television show that will air on one of our networks. But I wouldn’t get anybody’s hopes up too high. They have a lot of movies to make between now and then. We are deep into a very productive relationship with Lucasfilm making [Disney XD’s] Star Wars Rebels. And we are in ongoing conversations with them on what is the next Star Wars animated show.
