Jordan Brand sticks to their yearly tradition of celebrating the life young rising basketball player Isaac Arzate, who ended up in OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital for open heart surgery after a cardiac arrest at practice. During his recovery process, Isaac found a hobby in designing and putting flips on some of his favorite classic retro Jordan’s, giving them new life with very unique colorways. In April Isaac passed away, leaving some of his designs behind for the world.
With some help form Isaac’s parents, Jordan brand has decided to release the Doernbecher Air Jordan V, which feature some fresh glow in the dark technology. Although the shoe may appear to be a simple Black upper Jordan V with Icey sole, in the dark, the entire upper features a poem and words of encouragement from Isaac himself.
The Air Jordan “Doernbecher” V will be available September 14th over at the Nike online shop in very limited quantities. All proceeds from the sneakers sales will go to the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Check out more images after the jump.
