For the first time ever in the history of the company, Amazon is moving towards a monthly subscription service. It’s obvious this is a move to compete with companies like HULU and Netflix, at least on the video side of things. Up to this point, Amazon Prime included Prime Video, a music subscription, free 2-day delivery and photo storage for $99 a year. Now, they have split up the costs.
Prime Video will get its standalone subscription coming in at $8.99 a month, while Amazon Prime can be purchased month to month at a cost of $10.99 a month.
For those who still want to purchase the $99 yearly fee, you will still be able to do so and it will prove to have the best bang for your buck. Amazon Prime will total $131.88 a year and Prime Video will come out $107.88 a year with the monthly subscription.
