Apple prolongs new iMac line, to unveil new cheaper and lower-end $1,099 model.
After months of speculation, Apple has finally unveiled a cheaper and affordable iMac. The new model essentially features a lower-end processor, allowing consumers who’ve been skeptical of its higher priced models in the past to finally cross over from Windows PC.
This comes just a few months after refreshing its MackBook Air lineup that also saw lower pricing but slightly faster processors. The iMac wasn’t fortunate enough to see faster processing, but its $1,099 price point should be a Trojan horse to casual purchases with 6-12-18 month special financial payment plans. We would prefer to drop the extra $200 on a 2.7GHz quad-core model, but consumers have been very conservative with spending money in the economy. Some longtime supporters of Apple aren’t thrilled with the new lower-end and priced iMac model, as most were waiting for a full new line of systems to be revealed.
