We’re a little confused at how serious/funny this film is going to be.
Zach Galifianakis might have some of the dryest humor in the business, but there’s no doubting how comedic it actually is. Pair that with Owen Wilson and you’re bound to have an x-rated comedy, right? Maybe not completely if you have Mad Men‘s Matthew Weiner behind the lens directing.
The plot of the film involved two friends that end up traveling back to their hometown after Galifianakis’s character is informed that his estranged father left him a large sum of money after his death. Everything sounds good except for the fact that the trailer makes it out to be a teaspoon of seriousness, with a cup of comedy (was that Galifianakis crying?). Amy Poehler makes her way into the storyline as well, starring as Zach’s sister who questions why her brother got the inheritance to begin with.
This is certainly not Between Two Ferns.
Are You Here is set to hit theaters nationwide on August 22.
