Top, Get Kevin Smith on the phone!

Just last month, Ben Affleck opened up on the status of his upcoming solo film, The Batman. While he’s set to start in Justice League later this year, he confirmed that the script for Dark Knight’s next major presentation wasn’t complete. Instead, he’s taking his time with the project, whether or not Warner Bros. or DC Comics are in favor of the move or not. With both pushing for him and his team to complete the project, he opened up this week on whether or not he will direct the film.

Essentially, Affleck wants the film to be perfect for his vision or else he’s not stepping behind the lens for the upcoming effort. In an interview with The Guardian, he went to say, “That’s the idea. But it’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.” Originally, filming was set to begin early this year, but we’re doubtful it’ll make the cut – given how storyline is nowhere near completion. At this point, we think the actor-director-writer burden may be too much for Affleck to handle – or any modern-day actor.

Let us know in the comments if you expect The Batman to arrive before 2020.
