Continuing with VICELAND’s Bompton series, the cameras focus on the story of Lil L in part two. He was introduced as Kendrick Lamar‘s childhood friend in part one, but the second installment shows a bit more of who he is and what he’s trying to accomplish.
L says he’s trying to pursue a rap career of his own, for his children, because he doesn’t want them to ever wake up wondering where their father went. They then travel to his grandma’s house for a dinner with some homemade food and talk about how the family ended up in Compton in the first place. Lil L’s grandma talks about the Watts Riots and how it affected her, telling a sad story of what she witnessed during that time.
The clip finishes with L in the studio recording new material.
