Kendrick Lamar took us to the pavement of Compton through good kid m.A.A.d city and To Pimp A Butterfly, but VICELAND is certainly in these streets with their Bompton series.
In part 4, they show a bit more of their talk with K Dot and he told a story of a elder lady who helped him see the light of God one day, further proving to him that the CPT isn’t all about violence. That there’s people who really care about the well-being of the young people. From there, the cameras head over to the Greater Zion Family Church where Pastor Michael Fisher preaches, to get his take on the community and if things are getting better from his perspective.
They end the clip out at Campanella Park to meet with G Weed, who is one of Kendrick’s OG’s, to hear his side of the Piru and Crip gang wars that go on in that neighborhood every day. He explains how he got into the gangbanging lifestyle and tells a few stories of what’s happened to him, explaining that things will never be good there. The best it gets, is when the turf wars calm down and get “mild.”
