After all the reality witnessed in Compton, CA in the previous episodes, VICELAND’s Bompton series is ending on a positive note. The documentary has shown how some folks were turning around their lives, doing positive things with their time, like Trap Kitchen catering.
The same theme continues in part six, where they explain how Kendrick Lamar‘s success has inspired many of his own friends and people in Compton to aspire to greater things. Dot explains what the inspiration was for the artwork on To Pimp A Butterfly and he says it came from the fact that he wants to rep the city wherever he goes and wants folks to see the places he visits like he does. They all came from the same neighborhoods, so his success is also theirs.
Producer Larry Jay stays away from the street dealings and strives to make it in the music game thanks to his production. He does it for his young family members that look up to him and he wants to show them that they could make it out too, if they work hard.
The episode ends with G Weed, Lil L and more of Kendrick’s friends at his show, celebrating and witnessing how wide his reach extends. God willing, things are going to be alright.
