Marijuana has been the drug of choice in California for years, but it is no longer one. Voters have passed Proposition 64 on Election Day, making weed legal for recreational use for adults over the age of 21 in the state.
The Green Rush which took over Colorado, Oregon and Washington has officially taken over the West Coast and plenty of people are excited for what’s next. The marijuana business is expected to triple in size and possibly take over the wine business, with projected profit numbers to reach $22 billion by 2020.
Cannabis as a Schedule I controlled substance, but the fact that more and more states are legalizing weed, could force the hand of the government to reschedule its classification.
Nevada and Massachusetts have also passed laws that legalize the recreational use.
It’s business as usual for Californians, but now we can rest easier knowing we won’t get popped for smoking in public. So roll up, light up and put one in the air in celebration.
