Supergirl leaves CBS for CW!
When CBS first announced Supergirl would be on their 2015-16 slate of shows, many of us here were puzzled why they would join the on-going trend of live-action comic book series. While the show managed to have respectable ratings against prime-time competition on a network that featured comedies and investigative crime shows – the DC series stood on an island alone.
The show was almost guaranteed to be cancelled, given its $1 million dollar an episode expenses; but luckily, CW stepped in this week to acquire the action-drama for its upcoming fall season.
Its first outing featured a full-season order of 20 episodes, but we’re not sure how many has been included in its renewal. Show producer, Ali Adler, issued a statement today saying, “Season two is going to be more reflective of their past and how they’re going to change their future as a result of it in a really emotional way. We definitely want to continue making more of this show.”
With the show achieving a no. 1 ranking among all new CBS dramas, Warner Bros. now sees another one of its DC Comics series, joining the list of The Flash, Arrow and iZombie on CW.
