After spending much of his career with HBO, Chris Rock has been lured by a streaming giant and he may never look back. Netflix has offered and signed the comedian to an unprecedented $40 million deal for two comedy stand-up specials.
Considering he hasn’t had a special since 2008’s Kill the Messenger, Rock is due for one. He has been performing in clubs and hosting TV award shows in recent years, but we have waited eight years for new material from the man. We wouldn’t doubt if he’s been holding on to some of his best jokes for these specials. You can expect filming to start next year after his world tour comes to a city near you.
According to industry insiders, this deal is bigger than anything anyone has ever received.
