Chris Rock’s 2016 Oscars Monologue

One of the most anticipated moments from this year’s 2016 Academy Awards was Chris Rock and how he would address the #OscarsSoWhite controversy. He managed to go at it head-on, talking about it for a good portion of his monologue and making jokes that made a lot of the people sitting in the audience uncomfortable and unsure if they should clap or laugh through it all.

Chris’ monologue was also a commercial endorsing Kevin Hart and he managed to throw Jada Pinkett-Smith under the bus with a zinger involving Rihanna‘s panties.

If you didn’t watch his monologue live, check out some excerpts above.

“If they nominated hosts I wouldn’t get this job right now. You’d be watching Neil Patrick Harris right now.”

“I’m here at the Academy Awards, otherwise known as the White People’s Choice Awards”

“Hollywood is sorority racist. It’s like, ‘We like you Rhonda, but you’re not a Kappa.‘”

“This year on the In Memoriam package, it’s just gonna be black people shot by the cops on their way to the movies.”

“I understand Jada’s mad her man Will [Smith] was not nominated for Concussion… It’s also not fair that Will [Smith] was paid $20 million for Wild Wild West.”

“Jamie Foxx was so good in Ray that they went to the hospital and unplugged the real Ray Charles. It’s like, ‘We don’t need two of these.’”
