While we might have brought you some of the treasures of the Colombian jungles in the “Kings Of Cannabis” video, but not all is good in the countrysides of Colombia.
The past few decades have seen killers hidden in the rural areas of the country, like Florencia, all due to land mines. FARC guerrillas have planted (now banned) land mines all throughout the region, to protect the coca and marijuana fields from the Colombian armed forces. Since the 1990’s, over 10,000 people have fallen victim of land mines in Colombia and the number doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.
In this documentary, VICE travels to the department of Caqueta to speak to victims (kids, soldiers, etc.) of land mines who still live in combat zones. There, they heard plenty of stories and saw first hand how the military takes steps to clear areas in risk.
