Meet Comcast’s new service, Gigabit Pro!

Doug Guthrie, SVP of Comcast Cable’s South Region has issued a press statement today regarding some big news regarding the mass media corporation. Google, who’s planning to roll-out their official broadband Google Fiber service to massive residential areas finally, has been beaten twice in timing and data. In comparison to the Google Fiber 1Gbps speed expected to reach many later this year, Comcast has doubled up with revealing their already in the process of rolling out a Gigabit Pro service, beginning next month in Atlanta.

The service, which has no official pricing at the moment, will deliver 2Gbps upload and download speeds, double the amount anyone else provides. Last December it was revealed Minneapolis would boast the fastest residential connection in the world, with its exclusive local service US Internet at 10 Gbps.

While a market expansion of US Internet from Minneapolis to other regions is highly unlikely, given its $399 per month price, we’re expected to new Comcast massive upgrade to be around the $100-a-month price range.

“Our approach is to offer the most comprehensive rollout of multi-gigabit service to the most homes as quickly as possible, not just to certain neighborhoods,” said Doug Guthrie, SVP of Comcast Cable’s South Region. “We already provide the fastest speeds to the most homes and businesses in Atlanta, and access to Gigabit Pro will give our customers all the broadband capacity they need to stay ahead of future technologies and innovations.”
