Comcast is back in the game
Cord-cutters have been messing up the game for cable companies as more and more people are cancelling their service and opting for cheaper options. Networks like HBO and Showtime have decided to offer their services to customers without cable subscriptions and it looks like if Comcast wants to get their head in the game with the Internet TV bundles.
Much like SLING, Comcast will launch Stream in the Fall and it will give their Internet clients the option of paying $15 a month on top of their bill to stream TV on a tablet, phone or laptop. The service will launch in Boston at the end of the summer and in spot areas like Seattle and Chicago by the end of the year. The full roll-out should come for everyone else by 2016.
The downside? It will only work inside your own home.
That means that even though they will offer FOX, and NBC live TV and DVR, the service will only work inside your own network. Plus, the only cable network that will come in the bundle is HBO. No ESPN in the package as of yet.
This makes it a bit different than SLING, which offers more channels and the ability to watch it outside of your home.
