Craig Ferguson leaves “The Late Late Show” after 10 years with CBS.

When David Letterman announced his retirement from the Late Show, his successor Craig Ferguson was a dark horse for landing one of the biggest talk show spots in North America. CBS would soon reveal a few weeks ago that Stephen Colbert would be replacing him sometime next year. Tonight before his show kicked off, Ferguson announced after 10 years of hosting The Late Late Show, he would be stepping down from the network before the end of the year. The Scottish-born comedic and host already has a new gig already lined up with the upcoming syndicated game show, Celebrity Name Game set to premiere later this year.

Chelsea Handler teased on Instagram a few days ago her visit to CBS after reports surfaced she would also be leaving her Chelsea Lately show on E! later this year, but quickly denied a move to network TV. While an imminent announcement for his replacement remains to be seen, judging by the positive response Seth Meyers has seen for Late Night, we’re sure CBS is already looking for a fresh new face (Neil Patrick Harris?) for its new late night super team of the future. Hit the jump to watch the announcement.
