Cuba Gooding Jr. Speaks On His “The People vs. OJ” Role

The new season of American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ is coming to an end, with the ninth episode of the series airing tonight on FX. If you’re a fan of the series, you know Cuba Gooding Jr. has been doing an incredible job of portraying OJ Simpson during the Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman murder trial. Cuba was on Late Late Show with James Corden last night to talk about the show and how he approached his role leading into the series.

Gooding said that everywhere he goes people mention the series to him, especially since folks have an emotional attachment to it even after all this time.

He also revealed that he and director wanted to play both sides of the guilty/innocent card, and he had to have clear head going into playing OJ’s character. Cuba said he had to sit with the role for months at a time, compared to a movie, where it’s less time to shoot.
