South Central’s own, Dom Kennedy, linked up with iconic lifestyle/skate footwear brand Vans —in light of their Custom Culture Contest, which gives 50 competing high schools a chance to win $50,000 towards their schools art program.
To help get the word out and spread awareness for the contest, Vans selected a few of their favorite artists, celebs, and tastemakers to customize a pair of kicks. The brand out reached to well-known graffiti artist Mister Cartoon, painter Aaron Axelrod, actress Jamie Chung, late night talk show host Conan O’Brien, and many more.
Dom went with the classic Vans Slip-on model, tricking the shoe out with a OpM twist, customizing them himself with Dice and “$” signs all over the upper, and his label OpM (“The Other Peoples Money Inc”) handwritten across the soles.
The Vans Customize Culture contest ends May 13th, Head over to Vans.com now to vote for which school has the best custom design. Check out a few custom vans below.
