Female Group, UltraViolet To Protest Reebok’s NYC Store Over Rick Ross “Rape” Lyric

Rick Ross has been the target in the social media recently due to his controversial lyrics on Rocko’s You Don’t Even Know It.” Female group, Ultra Violent has been on a campaign to boycott both Ross & Reebok due to their recent partnership feeling the two sides are ignoring female violence and rape. They released a press statement earlier today saying,

“We are appalled that Reebok would pay a spokesperson who brags about enjoying drugging and raping a woman,” said Nita Chaudhary, co-founder of UltraViolet. “Reebok devotes a lot of time, energy and money to marketing to women–and now they are paying a man who is literally bragging about raping us while absurdly insisting it can’t possibly be rape if he doesn’t use the word “rape.” Reebok is apparently OK promoting rape culture, but when 1 out of 5 women are the victim of an attempted or completed rape, that has consequences.”

As Reebok remains quiet, Ross finally responded to criticism today on twitter saying;

While Ross is saying now he doesn’t condone violence on women, daytime talk show the VIEW voiced their displeasure with the lyrics this morning as well making it virtually now a national female issue with Ross. If you’re in the NYC area, the UltraViolet protest will be going on later today at the Reebok’s headquarters store in NYC.
