It’s been over 11 years since the destruction of Manhattan’s original World Trade Center as now nearly 7-years in the making, One World Trade Center will finally be making its grand opening later this year as we go behind of the project. Formerly named Freedom Tower, One World Trade Center is now the tallest building in the New York skyline sitting nearly 1,800 ft. in the air as the nearly 4 billion dollar project near completion. Steel co. ThyssenKrupp Americas are behind the installation of 74 elevators and 9 escalators at 1 WTC as project crew leader Scott Lahmers is featured in this clip.

“I’m an elevator man, not a photographer,” says Scott Lahmers after he took photos that swept the nation.

Check after the jump to watch Lahmers discuss working Tower 1 with his 60+ member crew team to hoist two 38,000 pound escalators to bring into the building at top.
