
Too soon? The Japanese film monster Godzilla will be terrorizing again soon with a sequel!
Over the last 3 days, GODZILLA has totaled over $200 million worldwide ($93M stateside, $103M internationally) in its opening weekend. Warner Bros. & Legendary Pictures were hesitant on whether the film would have huge success, but obtained the second highest opener for the year behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which saw $95 million in its debut. The monster film is nearing top 10 movie grosses for this year, surpassing its original $160 million budget.
The two companies are now moving forward right now with an official sequel according to Legendary president and chief creative officer, Jon Jashni.

It’s unclear currently whether director Gareth Edwards will return for the second installment of the rebooted franchise, but we’ll keep you up to date as more news surfaces in the coming weeks.
