Season 7 & 8 are expected to be condensed
With season 6 for Game of Thrones set to premiere on April 24th, show-runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are contemplating whether or not the final two seasons of the series should be condensed. At the moment, HBO is gearing up for the producers to have seven episodes for its seventh season in 2017, followed by six episodes for the eighth and final season a year later.
While no decision has been made, the 73 hours for seasons 7 and 8 could also see a two-part split – much like to AMC’s series, Mad Men. As the next batch of episodes arrive, this marks the first time that the TV series will surpass George R.R. Martin’s fantasy drama based book series.
