Ladies and gentlemen, we’re officially in the next generation of this Independence Day movie franchise shit, and there is no Will Smith in sight.
Twenty years after the original film, which saw an ID4 alien attack and Big Willie Style help save the world, Independence Day: Resurgence sees the return of extra-terrestrial life on to the Earth as we know it. Just when they thought they were safe, the aliens are back with a vengeance and the entire human race now has to fight for their lives against the species. Again.
As you can see from the trailer, there will be plenty of death, action and chaos during this 4th of July, which won’t be known as Independence Day, but the day the world declared they will live on and survive, not go quiet into the night, or vanish without a fight.
The Roland Emmerich-directed sci-fi action thriller stars Jeff Goldblum, Liam Hemsworth, Vivica A. Fox and Bill Pullman and will hit theaters on June 24, 2016.
