We told you direct messages to Instagram were on the way and that day is now here. Instagram rolled out a new update to their app, which now features “Direct,” a new way of sending messages and videos to a group of friends or a specific person directly.
The app feature will show up next to the refresh button and/or in your edit page before you post something for your timeline to see. After testing it out, it seems like you can send messages to anyone (even people that don’t follow you) so the thirst is about to get REALLY real once people get wind of that. As a matter of fact, they already have. Look for people to be in outrage by the week’s end.
You can grab the update through the App Store for iOS and Google Play Store for Android users right now. Good luck with that ladies!

A couple things to note: You can group send pictures up to 15 people, you will know when folks have read/liked what you sent, you cannot send text-only messages unless it includes a picture then chat as a result, and if someone doesn’t follow you but sent something, it will show up as a pending request in your “direct” tab.
