Jennifer Lopez is 45 now and has been through a whirlwind of ups and downs, as far as relationships go. In her ELLE UK cover issue, she opens up about some things going on her life right now (fresh off the release of her album A.K.A.), learning from love and lost, plus why she always makes 5-10 year goals for herself.
In terms of love, one of the hardest things that has happened in her life the past few years is her split with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Not so much for her, but because of her kids. She sees them struggle with not having a male role model around all of the time. Luckily, she relies on her extended family to take off much of the weight.
“Everybody has seen that I make mistakes. Every single album I have ever made is about love. But I am not going to give up. I have to look at what I do wrong. I rush in, I get swept up, I ignore the signs. But so many of us are guilty of these things. Each time it goes wrong it’s hard. I get really hurt but I have to let myself go: ‘What did I do? What can I learn?’ And as hard and as hurtful as things get, I want to believe I will be able to go one step higher. I’ve got to hope that if I keep going I will eventually get it right.”
Don’t worry, I’ll keep you company during the times you feel alone and while you figure it all out, Jenny.
