John Oliver on How To Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions

Wise words from a decent man

It’s January 4, so that means people are probably at the peak of their New Year’s resolution stride. They probably feel good about themselves that they’re going to change their diet or exercise more. Perhaps no alcohol has been consumed since the clock struck midnight on January 1.

Whatever your resolution may be, John Oliver wants to make sure you keep them throughout the year, by offering a bit of advice for those who will fall off in the next few weeks.

First of all, don’t make your resolution standard so high you can’t keep it. Lower your expectations. Be realistic with it. Chances are you’re not going to lose 25 pounds in the next month, so don’t set that as your goal. Bring it down a few notches.

Last Week Tonight… is back on HBO on February 14 and we can’t wait!
