Introducing doubleTwist, a new app that strips the copy protection right off music purchased from iTunes. At last you can listen to your purchases from the iTunes music store on your mobile phone, PSP or whatever else plays MP3s.
DoubleTwist fast-forwards the files you feed it, ripping the sped-up version then re-encoding a new track out of the data.
Some sound quality is lost in the process, but the whole process is mercifully quick: you can convert around 200 tracks an hour, which is way quicker than the old tried and trusted method of burning your iTunes songs to CD, then ripping them back into iTunes.
Development of this free-ware app was led by ‘DVD-Jon’, a programmer made famous for cracking DVD copy protection and Apple’s FairPlay DRM.
