Without a doubt, Ryan Gosling has been one of the most prolific actors over the past decade, but 2014 is set to see the release of his debut directorial, Lost River, which was tentatively titled How To Catch A Monster.
Quite possibly influenced by the production style of Nicolas Winding Refn within Drive and Only God Forgives, Gosling’s forthcoming film is a fantasy-neo-noir based on a mother taking a dark route in life, while her son finds his way into a dream world. The trailer doesn’t reveal much in terms of the plot, but sets the scene of the boy in an abandoned area of eeriness. The movie stars Christina Hendricks, Matt Smith, Iain De Caestecker, Saoirse Ronan, Eva Mendes, Ben Mendelsohn and Rob Zabrecky.
While the motion picture premieres at Cannes today, no release date is available.
