Daredevil will receive a spin-off series in the coming years!
The relationship between Marvel and Netflix is continuing to expand. According to TV Line, Jon Bernthal of The Walking Dead is set to debut in season two of Daredevil, and introduce himself to the series as The Daredevil. However, Netflix has bigger plans for the character, as its now being reported that the Marvel anti-hero is set to have his own stand-alone series called The Punisher.
The spinoff to Daredevil is likely to also join the likes of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders as the sixth active drama series on the streaming platform from Marvel. While this news may come as a shock to some, Netflix is going forward in persuading cord-cutters to stick with their platform year-round, as part of their new $1 billion investment for original programming.
Their plan is to debut a new original series every week of the year. If you don’t believe Netflix is aiming that high for content, stay tuned for unveilings throughout their quarter one.
