Calvary
Written and directed by John Michael McDonagh, Irish drama Calvary finally sees a stateside release. After being helmed as one of the best movies during the Sundance and Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year, we might have an under-the-radar gem on our hands. Staring Brendan Gleeson, Chris O’Dowd, Kelly Reilly and Aidan Gillen; Calvary centers on a priest by the name of Father James Lavelle, who unfortunately is forced unwillingly a sinful situation at the wrong time, due to a member of his parish.
While he’s trying to keep a straight face for the sake of his congregation, James must battle the dark forces in his own Calvary to save his freedom. The film’s received great reviews thus far and could be a sleeper this weekend due to the popular content arriving tonight.
