The Meddler

Whatever Lorene Scafaria touches, we’re usually behind like a pack of wild animals – hey, she’s been one of our biggest over the last decade. Tonight, she’s back in the director’s chair tonight for her former Toronto International Film Festival standout film, The Meddler.

With Sony Picture Classics giving the project a national rollout tonight, we see legendary actor Susan Sarandon, assuming the role of Marnie, who has a late coming of age story. Now as an aging widow, Marnie is lone and heartbroken in New Jersey and looks for a move to Los Angeles for a new star in life. Her daughter, Lori, lives in LA as well, which Marnie begins to interfere with her personal affairs.

However, this leads to her meeting new people, which the death of her husband has now opened for a greater purpose in her life. While this film may be under radar this month, it could possibly be the best quality release among the bunch tonight.
