The Neon Demon
Originally premiered last April at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, The Neon Demon finally makes a stateside premiere this weekend. Starring Elle Fanning, Christina Hendricks and Keanu Reeves, the psychological horror centers on an aspiring model by the name of Jesse. Upon a move to Los Angeles after her 16th birthday to launch a full-time career for her dream, she crosses paths with the head of her new agency that tells her she has qualities to become a top star. However, fellow co-workers and acquaintances within the same building quickly take notice of her rise in the company and soon plot to take her down. In the midst of a creepy photographer and a motel manager, her complete persona changes the good and bad – in a sense that she can contain her cutthroat rivals from bringing down her career and acquiring bad karma. We’re not sure how this one will perform at the theaters, but it’s a gem for some viewers of this genre.
