Movies To Watch This Weekend (March 25, 2016)

Born to Be Blue

While Batman v. Superman may be the most talked about film this weekend, Ethan Hawke and Carmen Ejogo’s 1960s-inpired film Born to Be Blue is the one release critics are attracted to. Premiered last year at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Canadian drama film focuses on the American jazz musician Chat Baker. With IFC Films behind the project’s distribution, movie goers might have to dig around town to see the limited-released gem. Throughout the 100-minute affair, the re-imagining of Baker’s musical comeback in the late ‘60s is broken down, which some are even calling Ethan’s performance, OSCAR-worthy. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, but we’re certain casuals not rushing to see the superhero showdown will have something to talk about this spring.
