Maggie’s Plan
Originally premiered last September at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, Sony Pictures Classic has picked up the stand-out indie film, Maggie’s Plan. The new film stars a notable cast in the likes of Greta Gerwig, Ethan Hawke, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, Travis Fimmel, Wallace Shawn, Ida Rohatyn, Monte Greene and Julianne Moore. With those names likely to convince movie goers to give a second look throughout the next few days, the romantic-comedy film centers on a young and independent New York woman, who decides to become a single mother.
With the help of former college acquaintance “Guy,” she surprisingly has serious feelings for a married man by the name of John, to the point where she wants his current wife’s position. Maggie eventually gets her wishes of marriage, but somehow falls out love with John, leading to an unlikely plan to reunited him with former wife, Georgette. We wish the project had more edge from the torn lover’s perspective, but we’re hopeful it has some kind of curve ball thrown to viewers.
