Palo Alto
Previously shown at the Telluride, Venice, Tribeca and San Francisco International Film Festival over the last few months, Palo Alto finally releases to theaters in NYC and LA tonight. While other cities are expected to get the film the following weekend, Palo Alto allows creator and star James Franco to showcase his former short series. Starring alongside Franco are Emma Roberts and Val Kilmer; with the movie centering on a shy young girl by the name on April (Emma), who has to decide between a flirtatious affair with soccer coach Mr. B (Franco) or a promiscuous lifestyle of: drugs, alcohol and tons of sex with multiple students she comes across in school.
Her best friend Teddy has a difficult time admitting his true affection to Emma, but it may be too late to let her know his true feelings after Emma’s life spirals out of control. Nearly 16 months after the film has been in promotion, if you come across this film at showings while others are well into showings, this might not be a bad option to at least check out.
