Be on the lookout for the new Nas & Erykah Badu film in 2016!
In a few weeks, Erykah Badu’s indie drama The Land will have its official public premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Before fans get a first rough draft of the upcoming project from Ms. Badu, it has been announced that Nasir Jones will serve as official producer for the Ohio-based project.
The film, centers on four teenage skateboarders, who gets caught up in the criminal underworld within the confines of Cleveland. After crossing paths with a local drug queen-pin, the boys must make major decisions going forward with their lives to pursue a professional skateboarding career.
While it’s unclear if the Queens rapper will write or perform any new material himself, he was also tapped to serve as executive producer for the film’s soundtrack. Written and directed by Steven Caple Jr., the 2016 motion picture also stars the likes of Moises Arias, Rafi Gavron, Michael K. Williams, Kim Coates, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. and Ezri Walker.
Look for The Land to premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival on January 21st.
