Nicki Minaj & Meek Mill for GQ (October 2015)

They “Wanna Know”

GQ teased this very photoshoot yesterday and for good reason. The hip-hop world has been praising (and hating) the new Future and Drake album What A Time To Be Alive, so it would be an appropriate time to unleash the spread they did with Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill.

The photos were actually taken around the time Drizzy released “Charged Up,” so you know it’s been a while in the making. Throughout the interview, the two talk about their relationship, how Meek bagged Nicki, misconceptions about their relationship in the public eye and how their strong personalities mesh with one another. Nicki revealed that they started talking when Kendrick Lamar dropped “Control” and it wasn’t until Meek got locked up that they formed a strong connection, since the two were going through rough periods in their lives.

“I definitely think we have a normal relationship off-camera. We’re like any other couple in the hood. We’re growing as a couple and as people and as human beings, but we still have our careers. And I think probably the only thing that makes it un-normal is that we’re both successful artists, and that’s probably not normal. But other than that, our feelings are very normal. Like, if I were to speak to a hundred girls right now about what they go through with their boyfriend, we’d probably have stuff in common.”

“Actually I love kissing him. My favorite thing about Meek is kissing him, which is weird. Just now I was like ‘damn, you’ve been asking can I kiss you a lot now,’ and it’s contagious because I used to be always asking him to kiss him when we first started talking. I love kissing him. I love the way his lips feel.” – Nicki Minaj

A lot could have changed between the time “Charged Up” until now, but from the outside looking in, it seems like things are still all good with the two. You can probably bet the two aren’t listening to that Super Future, Metro Boomin and Drizzy mixtape, though.
