One of the most well-known Japanese streetwear pioneers, NIGO has stepped down from his creative director position at BAPE, after a very successful 20 years of business and strong influence on American fashion culture. NIGO founded the brand in 1993, and made the shocking announcement of selling 90% of the brand in early 2011, where he decided to just be responsible for the brands creative vision and marketing efforts.
All though NIGO is no longer involved with Bathing Ape, he will continue being a fashion influencer. He is now freelancing and also working on his newly launched upscale menswear brand Human Made, where he takes a more mature approach on his pieces and designs.
