Rick Ross Announces First Screenplay ‘GABOS’

Watch Ricky Rozay’s interview with Rolling Stone

While Rick Ross is still making albums following the release of his fourth quarter project Black Market, he’s looking to break the trend of rappers moving directly into the front of the movie lens. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the Bawse opened up on his transition to adding the title of screenwriter to his resume, with the announcing of his first film project, GABOS.

During the conversation, he went to touch on how the project is inspired by Miami and the elements he came across growing up; but also cited how the Pablo Escobar-biography Netflix original series Narcos was a huge influence to make the project come into fruition.

Originally it was planned to be just a film, but the MMG rhymer explained how GABOS was too big for one sit-down, which could mean a potential crime-drama series being in the works.

Watch more from the interview above, where he also discusses growing up on Miami Vice, other influences from television/film, and gaining joy from writing an entire script.
