Very sad news for Boardwalk Empire fans has surfaced tonight. According to HBO, the Terence Winter series will end this Fall after the end of Season 5. The announcement came at the Television Critics Association press tour earlier. Winter and Michael Lombardo (the president of programming at HBO) said they decided to wrap up the show after a great run and emphasized that the series will have an exciting conclusion.
As fans of the show, this is heartbreaking news and we’d be lying if we said that we’re not disappointed as we write this. At the least, the show had another two or three seasons left in it, especially with how shit ended in Season 4. All good things must come to and end, though. At least we have a good part of the year to brace ourselves for the final episodes, before we pour out a little liquor for the series.
