Parker & Stone are still creating South Park until they’re cancelled!
If you were afraid of South Park being cancelled in 2016, Viacom has ensured the four potty mouth boys from Colorado are staying on screens and tablets until 2019. Last year, HULU partnered with South Park for an exclusive streaming rights deal, but after seeing the impact the adult comedy had on their streaming platform over the last 12 months, they’ve decided to pay Viacom a total of $192 million to keep the series exclusive on their platform. This now surpasses the Seinfeld deal on HULU, which was worth $160 million this year and all 300 episodes of CSI. Show creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are expected to continue creating the series on Comedy Central with complete control, through its 23rd season in 2019.
Season 19 of South Park premieres this September 16th at 10:00pm ET/PT on Comedy Central
