Tom Hardy is returning to television with the lead role in Taboo, a new series airing on FX in the US and BBC One in the UK.
The events take place in 1814 with Hardy as James Delaney, an adventurer (believed to be dead) who returns to London after spending 10 years in Africa. In the wake of his father’s death, he inherits a shipping empire and looks to start a fresh life. Except things aren’t left in a great place, with a list of enemies and a family mystery coming to life along the way.
Steven Knight is the creator of the show, who has previously worked with Hardy on Locke and Peaky Blinders. Hardy and Ridley Scott are among the executive producers, with an eight-episode first season is set to air in 2017.
